We are back bitches and better than ever…
NCScene returns to its roots & returns with a brand new updated website. Here is a rundown of all the new features:
Brand New Modern Look!!!
This is the first ground up redo of the site in many years, we’ve added or changed sections on the site over the last 5 years or so, but not really redid the entire look. We did a soft launch a couple weeks ago to make sure the site worked correctly and just decided to leave it live and finish building it. There are some sections not fully finished, but that will come with time. Also, as we get more unique content the News Feeds from Blabbermouth & Away-Team will probably move to a different part of the site/homepage. We want people to read our unique content, not go somewhere else. For now though, they serve their purpose until our writers sections gets more populated.
New Writers!!!
Glen is going to go back to writing a section called The Woodshed, which will cover a variety of things but the main theme of the section is returning to the local music scene after quite a few years in hiatus. We have the MetalShop section ready for the legendary Tony “DIO” Leonard to start posting updates whenever he feels like it. We also have another brand new section with Travis “MADRIGAL from the FORUM” which will be called Devils Stomping Ground. If any of you have read Travis’s writing, you all know he is one of the best writers around. We are also looking for new writers all the time with a unique idea for a section, so contact us if you are interested.
Auto-Updated Show Calendars!!!
Check out the new show calendars, its dynamic and pulls directly from ReverbNation… If a show is not listed correctly on ReverbNation it is not going to show up on the site. There is a main overview which shows upcoming shows from a lot of venues (its in Flash, a bit slow to load, and doesn’t show on iDevices), which is why I built the individual pages for the main rock/metal oriented clubs around the state. We will also take submissions from other venues to build pages for if you want.
Revised Directory!!!
The new directory is now complete and I went ahead and filled it up with bands (that I could find links for) that are appearing on our upcoming Metalfest (along with stuff that was in the old directory that was still valid)… Any bands, artists or other businesses that want their information listed, just click the submit and add your information.
NCScene RADIO!!!
All local NC Rock & Metal bands, no ads, 24 hours per day… The playlist now consists of bands that are playing our upcoming Metalfest along with some older bands around the scene who have performed at Metalfests in the past. Everything streams direct from ReverbNation… there is a catch as its in Flash so it won’t work on iPhones, iPod Touch & iPad. It pops out into a new window so you just have to have the mini window open and you can view other sites on the web.
Local Advertising!!!
We are going to return back to offering local advertising to artists & venues. Currently the ads you see are from Google, but over time we hope these will be replaced by more relevant homegrown advertising from local bands & area show promoters.
One of the main things I wanted to achieve with this version of NCScene.com is go back to where it all began… Our niche has always been that we cover harder rock & metal stuff within the state of North Carolina. At times over the years we have tried to branch out and add other sections that I hoped would bring in more visitors (whether it was adding stuff about upcoming movies, or trying to branch out into the surrounding states)… As the internet has moved more mobile, people can get stuff of that nature from a variety of places. We need to focus on our core.
There are a ton of other sites & blogs now, but NCScene was the first to do something of this nature many years ago… at one time this site was the biggest one around… period… I think we can be again…
We hope everyone likes the newest version of NCSCene.com!!!
