FAQs

How do I add my band or venue’s shows to your calendar?
Our upcoming show calendars are dynamically updated based on feeds from ReverbNation.  The overview calendar (THIS WEEKS EVENTS) compiles a list of shows from a list of venues that we manually selected based on the genre of music that they feature on a regular basis.  We also have calendars created specifically for some of the more well known rock/metal venues in our state.  To be listed on any of our calendars, your shows must be correctly listed on ReverbNation.  When you add a show to ReverbNation please use the DEFAULT listing for a particular venue.  If you do not do this, the feed will not display your shows on our calendars.

I run/own a venue, how can I get my listings on your calendar?
Please click on the SUBMISSIONS link and fill out the form.  There are a few requirements for us to add your venue’s events though.  Your venue must be in North Carolina.  You must regularly update the events on your ReverbNation venue profile or have the bands that regularly play your venue update their shows on a regular basis.  Your venue must book shows on a regular basis in the ROCK/METAL/HARDCORE genre.

I run/own a venue, and want a page on your site with my show listings like the other clubs you have?
We went through and made pages for the main venues that we know of that regularly book the type bands that this website promotes. We will consider all submissions, and consider making an extra page for your venue if you meet the requirements.

I would like to add my band or company’s information to your directory, how do I do it?
Please click on the DIRECTORY and you will have the option to add a link,  submissions are moderated so the details may not show up for around a week (we normally go through them and approve all new listings once per week).  Please note that we reserve the right to not list your band or company’s contact info if we feel that it does not mesh well with the overall focus of our website.

My band plays extremely heavy music or death metal, are we welcome here?
Without question, although the guys who run this site lean more to the harder rock & traditional metal realms, we appreciate good musicianship in all genres.  We also have new writers that will be covering more extreme forms of metal in the near future as well.

What is NCScene RADIO, I see my song playing but I did not submit it?
Basically, NCScene RADIO is a playlist of local NC artists pulled through a plugin streamed directly from ReverbNation.  If your band is on ReverbNation and you have uploaded music, their Terms Of Use cover what we have built here.  We went through and hand selected some of our favorite local artists, but we would like to add more and have an instantly available stream of local NC rock & metal artists available to anyone who would like to check it out.  If for some reason you do not want your music played on our stream, just contact us and we will take it down.

How do I add my bands songs to NCScene Radio?
Please click on the SUBMISSIONS link and fill out the form.  There are a few requirements for us to add your songs though.  Your band must be from North Carolina (or regularly play in the NC area).  You also must have the songs uploaded to your ReverbNation band profile.  Your band’s music must also be somewhat in the ROCK/METAL/HARDCORE genre.  We are the final judge on this,  for instance we will not add any modern country artists, top 40, pop, rap or hip-hop unless its something that we think rocks and that the people who visit our site will like.

I would like to advertise on your website?
Please click on the page for ADVERTISING found in the top navigation.

Will you promote my local band’s upcoming show in return for free tickets to the event?
We usually will only do this for larger shows in the area at major venues.  Contact our writers (individually on the STAFF page), and they may blog about your show and do a review after it for free perks such as guest list entry, free CDs, merch, etc.

We are a new band coming through on a grassroots tour, will you help promote a show in NC?
If we had a dollar for every email that this site has received over the years asking this, this website might be profitable.  If any of our writers are interested in the show, they may contact you back.  This site is primarily geared on promoting artists within the state of NC that play harder rock, metal & similar genres.  Your band can always buy your way into a feature article or pay to advertise your show on our site through our ADVERTISING page.

We are promoting a tour of semi-national & national acts coming through NC, will you help us?
Absolutely.  This is one of the things this site was originally built to write about.  Please contact our writers and if they are interested in writing about it, you can work out the details with them.  We definitely would want access to do an interview with any semi-national to national acts if possible.

How can I respond to a posted article from one of your writers?
At this time, you must be logged into FaceBook in order to add a comment to any article from our featured sections or from any of our writers own sections.  The owners of this website have run multiple websites on the internet for over 10 years.  We hate spam, and we hate moderating comments and feel that this is the absolute best way to cut down on that, as well as socially integrate some of our own content that we have come up with.

What is the Forum on this site?
The FORUM is the place to sign up and post about whatever you want, in an unmoderated (for the most part) environment.  We also have a Classifieds section in which members can post threads looking for band members or sell their stuff.  Come join the fun, mostly everyone on our Forum is from North Carolina and there are many users there who have been part of this scene for many years.  You may learn something, or make a connection with someone and talk about stuff you forgot about years ago.

Is your Forum moderated?
Only somewhat,  we will only remove posts if we get a complaint or if it is outright spam.  In others words, our FORUM is as free speech as it gets,  choose a username and start posting whatever you want.  You don’t really even have to be yourself in our FORUM, unless you want to.

Is NCScene Music a record label?
Not exactly.  Yet.  If you see the name NCScene Music around the web somewhere we do use that name to promote some of our own musical ventures and projects from some of our friends.  We have toyed around with the concept of creating an indie music label, but at this time we are still not sure how to do it, make it profitable, and make it something unique that artists can’t do on their own with the availability of so many internet based promotional tools & digital distribution channels.  With that said, we do scan every submission that comes in through our website, and if something totally knocks us off our heels, we will contact you and discuss it at that time.
