North Carolina Music Scene / Something New.... Music?!?!?

So yes, I am shamelessly promoting my new band.

I hope you guys like it. Feedback is welcome, as are show swaps.

The poster formerly (and still) known as BlackWatch-Hollow.

No that\\\'s just stupid....

Musicians Seeking Musicians / Lead guitar player - Charlotte
« on: November 27, 2012, 08:38:19 PM »
Hey folks...

I know most of the folks here are eastern NC, but if there are any Charlotte area lurkers, this its for you.

The band is traditional metal. We already have a good line up with guitar, bass, drums, keys and vox. We are just looking for a second lead player to round things out.

We have a nice practice spot, pa, songs written etc. We are recording a demo at the end of December. All of us just think it would make a better live presentation with a second guitar.

If you are in the Charlotte area and interested, pm me or just respond on here. I can get you some recordings from practice to check out.

North Carolina Music Scene / New Steel Panther
« on: November 17, 2011, 10:37:57 PM »
So I bought the new CD today. Have not quite made it through the first spin. Its funny, but so far I am just not taking to it like Feel the Steel. Its not quite as funny or original in the lyrics.

That said, as with Feel the Steel the band is superb and the vocal performance is awesome.

Its just the outrageous lyrics that make it all worth it.

Maybe it will grow on me with more play, but for now, I am a little disappointed.

Though it was only like $5.99 on Amazon.

Anyone else? Thoughts?

Should there?

Music Equipment / Marshall VS 100 Half Stack
« on: April 27, 2010, 12:34:39 AM »
Asking $500 for the half stack. Paid $400 for the head (lightly used) and $400 for the cabinet.

The distortion is not as thick as some amps, but it was good enough for Chuck Shuldiner to use so ya know... its gotta be alright. The cleans are crystal. It has three channels, overdrive, lead and clean. Comes with a three way Marshall footswitch. For those who do not know, this is a hybrid amp, tube pre and solid state power.

The cabinet is the same that Marshall typically sells to go with the MG series. It is the low end for Marshall, but does have 30 watt Celestians. It is also extremely light and can easily be carried by one person with no casters. It is a slant cab.

This amp is perfect for a first half stack or for someone who just needs a light weight travel rig, but still wants a half stack.  Minor scuffs from gigging, but no damage or torn tolex. One foot on the amp is missing, but does not affect the amp and can be replaced. Amp is in perfect working condition.

I live in Charlotte and local folks can arrange to come by and see it. Otherwise, I come to Raleigh a bit and will be willing to bring it, if the buyer is pretty damn sure they will take it. If that is the case, please check around to make sure it will have the sound you want before asking me to load it up. Its light and all, but I don\'t just carry it for fun.

I used this amp for a long time, but I am not in a gigging band anymore and have not used it in three years, so there is no point hanging on to it. Besides I need a new acoustic.

I can e mail pics if anyone wants them.

Gaming Talk / New Old Stuff
« on: December 28, 2009, 06:34:34 PM »
As is my typical method, around Christmas I usually get one new game, and then a couple of older ones that I have been waiting to see come down in price.

New = Dragon Age

Older = BFBC1 and Mass Effect 1. I needed these so that next year (or maybe the year after) I can buy their upcoming sequels.

So far I have diddled the Bioware games a bit, but have not tackled BFBC yet.

Gaming Talk / Hawx???

Bought this for PS3 yesterday.

So far, enjoyable. Once I play a little more, this will be the game I finally use the PSN for.

If you have not played it, it is basically what Ace Combat 7 would have been if it had stayed on PS. To me, that\'s cool because I like Ace Combat.

I am not sure why they went to the Clancy brand, which has typically made more realistic combat sims.

Whatever the case, I am enjoying it.

Gaming Talk / Expansions for Fallout 3

Unfortunately Microsoft has an exclusive agreement so it will only be on X-Box and PC. No PS3. Fortunately, I got it on PC.

Gaming Talk / Geek Thread.. Post your rig. Gaming
« on: March 08, 2008, 10:35:44 PM »
I was reading one of Yocum\'s thread and I thought of this. I am curious what everyone games on. Post your rigs...

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 1.6 ghz :(

Ram: 3 GB PC5300 :|

Video: Nvidia GForce 8600 GT :)

Sound: Sounblaster Live / Onboard

Hardrive: SATA 80 GB / USB 2.0 80 GB External :|

Monitor: 22" LCD :)

Other: Basically I found a good deal on a Dell business class machine that had the video card already in it. I added the sound, RAM, external and monitor.

I have\'t tried Crysis on it, but it runs Oblivion nicely. I want to upgrade the CPU.

37" LCD

I may get a new console at some point when they get cheaper and any bugs get ironed out.

Though we may get a wii. I have convinced my wife of the value of games.

Music Equipment / Recording and Guitar Stuff for sale!!!
« on: May 08, 2007, 11:21:34 AM »
I have been trying to sell some of my recording stuff for some time, and people keep telling me they will buy it, and then don\'t.

Thus it is time to get rid of it, esp as I am moving and do not need it.

I have an Edirol UA 25, USB digital audio interface I will sell for $150.00 ($239.00 new)

It features:

2 combo inputs that accept XLR, TRS balanced or direct instrument cables.

48 volt phantom power

1/4 inch, digital and RCA outputs.

Midi I/O

And other features. BTW if you are curious how it sounds, we used it to record much of the guitar, bass and vocal work on our album, which you can sample at .

I am also selling a Line 6 Guitar Port. This is a USB input that essentially turns your computer into a Line 6 POD. It allows for recording guitars directly without having to use external hardware.

I will sell this for $50.00

I am also looking to sell my half stack. I would like to get something smaller, like a 2x12, so if anyone would like to talk trade, hit me up.

The half stack is a Marshall VS100. It is a tub/solid state hybrid. It shows some wear as it has been used to gig, but it functions and sounds fine.

The cabinet is a matching Marshall 4x12 rated for 120 watts, which is plenty when the amp is only 100.

I will let the half stack go for $500.00

You can PM me here if you are interested...

This will be my second and last post pimping our new CD...

I just wanted to let everyone know that it is available for pre order, if you so desire.

If you wish to pre order a copy, please e mail us at .

We will then send you an invoice through Paypal, and you can use your major credit card or Paypal account.

We are doing the pre orders as there is a chance that Diskfaktory will not have it done before the May 19th show. In light of that we are offering free shipping on all pre-orders!!!

Again, sorry to pimp.

North Carolina Music Scene / The BlackWatch Album is Finished!!!!
« on: May 01, 2007, 04:46:51 PM »
We have finally, at long last, after two years, completed the BlackWatch album, which looks as if it will be self titled. We thought about a name for the album but we are slackers and we rarely agree on anything.

Nonetheless, it is finished, and we are sending it off this week to be printed, in hopes it will be ready for our May 19th show at Volume 11. Oh BTW, we have a CD release show May 19th at Volume 11 with Faith in Ashes, Crescent and Tomorrow\'s Sandwich.

The track listing for the album is as follows:

A Minute O\' Chivalry

Battle Dance

Lost in Oblivion

An Infinence

Another Infinence

The 11th Commandment

Dancing on Graves

Of Nothing

It will cost $10.00 and be available at shows, through contact with us, and anywhere else we can get it. We aren\'t signed so this is a self production and self release.

Of course if anyone wanted to sign us...

To request a copy you may e mail us @ . You can also do so through our myspace (where we also have samples) @ .
