Music Equipment / Vintage North drums
« on: September 23, 2013, 10:41:12 AM »
Shell pack is 11 pcs total. Bass drums (x2) and top toms (x5) are Norths, there are NO cracks in any of them. One of the 3 other toms is Tama, 2 are unmarked. Snare is steel and also unmarked. I took it to several \\"experts\\" and it stumped them all.
Rack and pedal are both pretty beat up but the buyer must take it all. All hardware is here, lugs, rims etc. Lugs are Fibro.

Sizes

Bass drums 22\\" (North)
Top toms 6\\", 8\\", 10\\", 12\\", 14\\" (North)
Other toms 15\\", 16\\" (Tama), 17\\"

My initial intent was to do a complete restoration chrome, paint, etc, and I may still if nobody picks them up. But then again, I am not a drummer, and a real musician may wish to make it custom, or restore it to its vintage style. If I do it, the price goes up of course.

So there it is, all parts are here, they need a little love but this is a great kit. They dont make em like this anymore. The North toms are LOUD.
Im just looking for an honest offer or good advice.

North Carolina Music Scene / Film Screening in Raleigh
« on: April 03, 2013, 06:48:59 PM »
This is Shawn\\\'s wife - borrowing his screen name to hopefully get some help for a film screening I\\\'m hosting.

On April 24th I am hoping to host \\"Girl Rising,\\" a film screening about education making an impact on young girls\\\' lives worldwide.  Below I\\\'ve included the film\\\'s summary.  It\\\'s taking place at North Hills Stadium 14 @ 7:30pm.  Tickets are $10.

The catch: I NEED 100 reservations by April 10th in order for the screening to take place.  I\\\'m not even close yet and I\\\'m reaching out to everyone to either reserve tickets or at least help me spread the word.

For more info/trailer/ticket reservations/promoting links (facebook, twitter, etc.) please go to this website:

gathr.us/screening/2737

Thank you!

(Summary)

From Academy Award-nominated director Richard E. Robbins and the award-winning producers of The Documentary Group and Vulcan Productions, strategic partner, Intel Corporation, and distribution partners CNN Films and Gathr, comes Girl Rising - an innovative new feature film about the power of education to change a girl – and the world. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett, Selena Gomez and other A-list actresses contribute voice performances to the film, which features original music from Academy Award winner Rachel Portman, in collaboration with Lorne Balfe. The film spotlights unforgettable girls like Sokha, an orphan who rises from the dumps of Cambodia to become a star student and an accomplished dancer; Suma, who composes music to help her endure forced servitude in Nepal and today crusades to free others; and Ruksana, an Indian “pavement-dweller” whose father sacrifices his own basic needs for his daughter’s dreams. Each girl is paired with a renowned writer from her native country. Edwidge Danticat, Sooni Taraporevala, Aminatta Forna, and others tell the girls’ stories, each with its own style, and all with profound resonance. These girls are each unique, but the obstacles they faced are ubiquitous. Like the 66 million girls around the world who dream of going to school, what Sokha, Suma, Ruksana and the rest want most is to be students: to learn. And now, by sharing their personal journeys, they have become teachers. Watch Girl Rising, and you will see: One girl with courage is a revolution.

North Carolina Music Scene / I cant decide
« on: March 04, 2009, 06:20:38 PM »
Mabey one of you could help me decide what the funniest part of this Craigslist ad is.

TOO....MANY.....JOKES.

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/lbg/1054614244.html

Is it the overall MURDER of the English language?

Is it the "FROM BUMPER" part?

Perhaps the "NEED TO BE FIXED REAR PUMPER" part.

Or mabey that he thinks his primer gray 94 toyota is "expensive"

Could be funny that a fuckin Mexican had to bite the bullet and find a gringo to help HIM using only chapter 1 of Rosetta Stone to create his ad.

I dunno. Mabey I\'m the only one who can find the humor in it.
You guys are usually pretty insightful.

Any thoughts Yocum?
Perhaps a sick but somehow relevant photo from NowhereMan or Dr. Rhythm.

North Carolina Music Scene / Myspace Tom: Communist
« on: January 16, 2008, 12:28:14 PM »
Hey Guys. I know Its been awhile since I\'ve been in here, but I had to stop in to say hi and that I\'ve been censored @ myspace...Fuckin retarted. A photo of the President in juxtaposition w/ Hitler- no problem. The classic "exploding head" gif- no problem. A gif of G.W. flipping the bird- no problem.

But I put up some pics of me and friends from the incredibly successful,  LAW ABIDING hunting season we just had, and all of a sudden I\'m putting children in danger! FUCK YOU COMMIE TOM!!!!!!!!

I\'m not stalking little girls, running scams, hacking into profiles, or showing anyone my booty clap (so stop asking). I havent even touched my profile in over a friggen year! Its just a hodge-podge of silly shit slapped together anyway. But my budz n I had a great hunting season this year and I cant even show anyone at Myspace cuz its really HIS fuckin space. Fuckin TOMmunist!!!

So thats why I\'m back. Cuz the Good people @ N.C. scene either know that its Un-American to censor us, or they just dont give a fuck about the children! Lol-JK(?)

Anyway I\'ll just post the pick of my big trophy from this year. Thx Guys!

North Carolina Music Scene / Rant: The United States of Amerexico
« on: May 04, 2006, 01:58:27 AM »
I feel a rant coming on.

I\'ve been mulling the problem over in my head for a few years now, in those few years, the problem has increased dramatically. Those of you who know me well enough here, already know how I feel on the topic of the border jumping issues that continue to plague this great nation. Heres a link to an old rant so that I might try to avoid being repetitive. Read it if you\'re curious to know where im coming from here, or if you dont already know me or where I might be going with this.

http://www.ncscene.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1004&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25

Monday: 7 am: My jobsite at an under construction, upper-class housing community in Raleigh. It had actually slipped by me that at the gas station on my way to work, I was able to walk directly to the coffee machines, then to the register, and out the door before my coffee stopped swirling, without tripping over a hill of beaners or being called "El Diablo" once. This small miracle/ wonderful start to my day was not to be appreciated until later that morning. Once I got to the site, my crew and I noticed something.  Something different. Could\'nt quite put our hands on it, but it was good. Took a minute. Air seemed fresher. The morning felt...friendly. Other crews nearby were setting up shop for the day. Usually dont notice that, but we did. Why? What was so different? WAIT! I had forgotten. Heard about it last week. EVERY SINGLE ILLEGAL ALIEN IN THE COUNTRY HAD TAKEN THE DAY OFF TO BOYCOTT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN AN EFFORT TO PROVE THAT THE NATIONS ECONOMY WOULD CRUMBLE IF NOT FOR THE MIGRANT WORKERS.

To suggest to us, Americans, that we had grown into a state of dependancy on a group corrupt, un-insured, un-licensed, un-educated, womenizing, disease-spreading, tax/premimum raising, lease breaching, social/economic parasites. Having the nerve to demand amnesty in a land that they have no right to be in, including convicted felons and rapists, even though they have collectively been handed easier lives through the fact that the population of illegals is so overwhelming that the local government would rather turn their heads than be faced with the possibility of being OUT-MANNED by an un-organized group of uprising immigrants WHO ALL HAVE, AND CONTINUE TO, BREAK THE LAW!!. This, friends, damn near sent me through the roof. But instead of getting pissed off about it, I just looked out among the other jobsites, and saw, AMERICANS! It was beautiful. The sounds of rock and country (yeah. I was actually happy to hear country. crazy) playing over DeWalt radios all around us. No tubas, morraccas, accordions, or bongos. No radio tuned to "LA LEY" or "QUE PASA" could be heard. And oh yes, our economy was not only un-effected, but the failed attempts to "hurt" the nation brought every bluecollar out to the table with his game face on.  AND WE ALL LOVED IT. Gave us a taste of how things used to be. Moreover, it reminded us of how it should be once again. We want it back.

But how? To what end? What was to be done about it? It was obvious to me by the end of the day that it would never happen. The Federal Govt\' had their shot. It was right there for the taking. They all gathered in masses. Thousands at a time from city to city. Scoop em up, ship em out, right? Wrong. Civil rights activists would have filed suit against the nation in a heartbeat. Reguardless to the fact that none of them are CIVILLIANS! Far too long have we (Americans) been pissed off at the obvious. Its exhausting to be angry at so many people. Its time to be opportunistic toward the overlooked.

So far, some of my ideas to handle this problem, have led to some  exciting speculations as well as support by some of my peers, yet have had little practical merit. The electric fence idea. A popular one. Not an origional RAGEism, led us to imagine ourselves relaxing on lawnchairs in Texas while the bursts of blueish white electricity lit up the sky like that of some international bug zapper.  Or my "pay by the pound" incentive for Americans to receive 100$ for every 200 pounds of Mexican Buttock returned to the border. An idea that came to me one day when I watched a Mexican go into the porta-johnny at a jobsite. I followed him out, then placed a spike into the latch locking him in. I went back inside, sat by the window and watched the struggle insue. It occured to me that it was like one of those "have a heart" traps people use to catch small land-dwelling creatures in for safe relocation. I wanted to load that plastic shitbox up onto a truck and head south. "I got one!" I woulda said to the border patrol. We\'ve been redeeming cans in this country for years. Why not Mexi-cans?  But its all useless. Catch \'em, beat \'em up, send \'em back till you\'re blue in the face, we\'ll never get anywhere that way. Its like trying to catch every raindrop in a monsoon in your hand, then throwing back in the air hoping it sticks. Sooner or later, your either saturated or drowning.

So here is the point. The suggestion.
O.K. Mexicans. You want amnesty? You want equality? You want papers?
Fine. You idiot. Lets see how you handle your first tax audit. Your first hospital bill.  Your first child support payment. Your first alimony hearing. How about when your car gets impounded because its not insured, registered , or inspected. Your first eviction for breaching your lease, then the following rejected applications to other apartments as a result. You want your life in this land legit, thats part of the package Peco!

The Price: (you didnt think it was free did you? FREEDOM is for those who immigrated here legally like my ancestors did from Ireland. If they wanted to live here, they had to go and fight the Civil war first. You are all criminals. Therefore you must pay.)

The price of your citizenship will be your homeland.  Thats right. MEXICO!! And all that lies within her borders. Resources like coffee, lettuce, soy, tobacco, oil, coal, gold, livestock, and corn.
We tear down our southern borders and absorb Mexico as U.S soil. Divided into states, every AMERICAN may FREELY roam as far south into its new states as they wish. Buy a house, open a business, go on vacation without customs. ALL CITIZENS WILL BE SUBJECT TO THE SAME LAWS, REQUIREMENTS, PENALTIES, TAXES, etc. ALL WILL BE REQUIRED TO LEARN ENGLISH.
A fair trade that all will benefit from. ESPECIALLY Mexicans who as industrious as they are, have never been able to build anything out of their own country or economy, which is why they are all here. To leetch on ours instead.

Truth be told, there really is no need to ask you, Mexico, how you feel about it. Americans could literally invade and conquer you tomorrow without even needing the use of our military. Are there any able-bodied men between ages 15 and 50 left to defend your country? Nah. They\'re all here. Laying shingles and blowing leaves.

So I think thats it. There are the terms. Take it or........
GET YOUR RAGGED FUCKIN ASSES OUT OF MY FUCKIN HOUSE!!!!!!

I\'ll be ready for you either way. With lead clad knuckles. (Thanks again Travis!)
