North Carolina Music Scene / I miss the metal at V11
« on: September 05, 2012, 09:09:38 PM »
I saw so many great bands when I started getting back into metal. Most of the shows I saw usually started around 8 or 8:30. Too bad there wasn\'t enough support to keep it going. I miss that shit.

North Carolina Music Scene / Lessons
« on: August 22, 2012, 10:25:34 PM »
I think it\'s about time I really learn how to play one of these guitars I have hanging on the wall.

Any recommendations for someone in Raleigh that\'s a shreddy beast willing to give lessons? I\'m not looking for in depth theory and that type of crap. As a former bassist, I mainly want to sit down with someone that can give me lead / solo pointers and maybe work with me on improving picking technique. I\'m ok with most rhythm crap.

I\'m expecting absolutely zero response to this but fuck it. I\'m interested in finding a few others that are interested in any of the above genres. I\'m looking for folks that have no desire at all to tour but are interested in project work resulting in recording and possibly a self-released LP.

If your hair is growing faster in your nose and ears than it is on your head, you\'re probably about the right age for this.

I play bass but can do some guitar work on this as well. Regardless of the instrument you play, if you are looking to create non-techy heavy shit with a few others, let\'s talk.

If interested, PM here or email

Oh- I\'m in Raleigh.

North Carolina Music Scene / Turntable
« on: July 29, 2011, 06:36:53 PM »
I\'m thinking about getting back into vinyl.  Anyone have suggestions on a decent turntable? I have no idea where to get started.  It\'ll be connected through my audio interface on my computer so super-high-end stuff would probably be a waste.

North Carolina Music Scene / The Brewery... RIP?
« on: July 23, 2011, 03:43:07 PM »
I just read on the innerwebs that the Brewery was going to be demolished.  Closing August 1. Have no idea if this is true or not. If it is, that kinda sucks.

Will you give me a hand by "liking" this page?

I\'m going to start promoting the shit out of featured bands and shows here in NC.  Just need a little help getting out the gate.

More details and complete website coming soon...

North Carolina Music Scene / Heavy NC bands?
« on: July 03, 2011, 09:24:03 PM »
I need to learn more about NC bands. Which heavy bands are at the top of your list? Which seem to have the biggest following?

I\'m noticing a trend when I browse band info pages on Facebook, MySpace, etc. Many bands list "bands we\'ve played with". Seriously, who gives a shit? What does this MEAN to anyone? Fuck, no one has even heard of most of the bands included in these lists except for the other fucking bands that played with them.

North Carolina Music Scene / What are you drinking?
« on: June 26, 2011, 11:37:46 PM »
Maybe a complimentary thread to "what are you listening to"?

I don\'t drink as much as I used to, but I still like good shit.

After a long layoff from the "hard stuff", tonight it\'s Herradura Tequila Anejo neat.

This and El Tesoro are my favorites that are sold by the fucked up state ABC.
